Buying gifts for men isn’t easy. If you’re like me – in your late 40s – you’re may be in a financial position where if your husband/significant other/dad/brother wants something, they can just go out and buy it. So, finding a unique gift that he doesn’t have already can be challenging. I try to find gifts that make the person you’re giving it say to themselves….wow, that’s really cool and thoughtful. And the ultimate goal is to prevent the gift receipt from being used.
Over the years I’ve gotten my husband a few clunkers, but I’ve also gotten him a few winners that I think all men would enjoy. So, I want to share that with you! Here they are, by category:
Golf Trunk Organizer. Who knew the game of golf has so many “accessories”. There are the clothes, shoes, balls, tees, golf bag, clubs, towel, glove…and for some…cigars and all of the stuff that comes with that. So, going out for a round requires a lot of gear – that can totally trash a trunk if it isn’t organized. This golf trunk organizer is great – everything golf is contained in one place. #winning!
SketchBox Subscription. Subscription boxes are all the rage and this is the perfect gift for the artist in your life. Each month a box is delivered to your home that has 5 – 6 art supplies, and there are two box options to choose from – a basic box and a primary box. The main difference in the two boxes is the quality of the art supplies. Each box has a theme and is meant to allow the artist to try a new medium.
And another thing that’s awesome about this is a portion of every sales benefit schools in need through the Dreaming Zebra Foundation. My husband loved it and it helped rekindle his passion for creating. I think this is one of my favorite finds.
Hard Working Man’s Hygiene Kit. I found this gift on Uncommon Goods’ website. On the weekends, he’s always outside working in the yard or building something (he’s handy like that). Needless to say, his hands get pretty dirty and beat up. This kit has everything to take care of your man’s hands. Heavy duty soap and scrubs, hand lotion, lip balm – you name it, it’s got it.
The Business Man
Engraved Collar Stays. Before I met my husband, I had no idea what a collar stay was or what it’s used for. They’re little “sticks” made of plastic or metal that goes in the collar of a button-down shirt that helps the collar keep its shape. I thought the engraveable metal ones were classy. I mean, who doesn’t love monogrammed things? Basically, it makes your man look polished and pulled together when he’s all dressed up. How hot is that?!
I don’t have a particular gift idea that’s been a standout, but I do like giving gifts that capture moments in time. I’ve done photo mugs from Shutterfly and this year my son made a coffee mug for my husband himself (check out my post on how that went down).
There is another cool service by Groovebook that pulls the photos off your smartphone each month and turns it into a photo flipbook. You don’t have to mess with uploading files to a website, choosing which ones to print…yada yada yada. The service does that for you. It’s pretty cool – check it out.
What creative gifts have you given in the past that your man has loved? Drop them in the comments – I want to hear about them!
